A CUSTOM MADE TEAK CABINET / CREDENZA / DRESSER MANUFACTURED IN THE US IN THE 1970S. THE CABINET WAS DESIGNED BY HAMILTON SMITH, WHO WAS CO-ARCHITECT OF THE ORIGINAL WHITNEY MUSEUM (NOW THE MET BREUER MUSEUM) AND SENIOR PARTNER ON MARCEL BREUER'S NEW YORK TEAM. THE CABINET WAS ACQUIRED FROM HIS LONG ISLAND, NY ESTATE (THROUGH HIS DAUGHTER). IT FEATURES FIVE DRAWERS OF VARYING SIZES AND A DRAWER ON THE LEFT THAT OPENS TO REVEAL A STORAGE AREA. THE CABINET IS UNUSUALLY DEEP AT 23.5 INCHES, SO IT IS QUITE FUNCTIONAL AS A STORAGE UNIT. IT SITS ON A RECESSED PLATFORM BASE. WELL MADE AND QUITE HEAVY - EXTRA THICK TOP WITH WONDERFUL WOOD GRAIN THROUGHOUT.
