A ONE OF A KIND MID CENTURY MODERN DINING SET MANUFACTURED BY JOSEPH ARONSON, INC. (C. 1952), A NYC FURNITURE RETAILER. ARONSON WAS ALSO THE AUTHOR OF THE OFT-REPRINTED "THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF FURNITURE.” THE SET FEATURES A 52" ROUND SIX LEGGED TABLE WHICH EXTENDS TO OVER 10 FEET LONG WITH THE ADDITION OF FOUR 18" LEAVES. IT COULD BE USED A DINING TABLE OR A CONFERENCE TABLE. WE BELIEVE THE WOOD TO BE BLEACHED MAHOGANY. THE TOP AND THE LEAVES APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN REFINISHED. THERE ARE EIGHT CANE BACKED CHAIRS WITH BLUE VINYL SEATS (NEWLY RECOVERED). THE CHAIRS BACKS FEATURE LOVELY DELICATE EDGES WHICH TRANSITION INTO NICELY SCULPTED BACK LEGS. MAKERS MARK ON UNDERSIDE OF TABLE. THIS MAY OR MAY NOT BE A CUSTOM PIECE. NOTE: PHOTOS SHOW THE TABLE WITH NO LEAVES AND WITH TWO LEAVES. WITH THE ADDITION OF TWO MORE LEAVES, THE TABLE CAN EASILY ACCOMMODATE ALL 8 CHAIRS.
